The relaxed environment of the library is the perfect way for all ages to have fun reading, learning and expressing their creativity.

After a simple welcome song and recap of a recently learnt topic, the students are read a story in English by our volunteers and are encouraged to reply with their thoughts on what the story means. The story is also translated into Vietnamese so that keywords can be chosen and emphasized, providing more vocabulary. After this, students can then re-cap the short story back to the class in English or Vietnamese depending on their confidence.

The students have access to a number of both English and Vietnamese books which have been donated to Bright Futures for Kids. They can read at the workshop or borrow the books to take home. If they have unwanted books at home they can bring them to the library to share with other students.

English speaking volunteers allow the students to hear the words in a native accent and with the correct pronunciation.

Being able to communicate with volunteers from other countries also helps the students to have a greater knowledge and understanding of other cultures and traditions.
