Volunteering at the Bright Futures for Kids project provides a benefit to many people; not only the students and the volunteer, but also the teacher and the community.
Being off the usual tourist trail allows volunteers to experience the real Vietnam. Immersing yourself in the culture and daily life of the town provides unforgettable memories that cannot be gained anywhere else. Although we are based only 20mins from Hoi An the town does not have many foreign visitors, meaning you are guaranteed the authentic experience that many travelers strive for.

As the students learn during the class, volunteers can also learn how to develop their teaching style. Experiences learnt in the classroom can then be applied to further classes in foreign countries or teaching at home. In addition to this, volunteers will develop a better understanding of how to overcome a language barrier which will help when travelling in future.

The beauty of understanding a language is that there will always be new words and meaning to discover! When lending your time to the project, volunteers also help to develop Ms Hoang’s understanding of English. Conversation and the sharing of stories and experiences provide a lasting legacy that can be taught during future classes when you have left the project.

The Bright Futures for Kids project is a great benefit to the local community. This is a free class which provides an opportunity for every child to develop their English speaking further. Volunteers also visiting the area will also undoubtedly come into contact with other local people. Despite many other locals wanting to learn English, they never get the chance to practice this. Conversing with local people raises the knowledge of English in the area as a whole!
